Gambling Limits

1. Why limits matter
Deciding how much you are comfortable spending and how long you want to play, before you start, is one of the most effective ways to keep gambling fun. Limits turn a vague intention into a firm boundary that the platform enforces for you. At lotoguebec, every account includes free limit tools, and we encourage every player to set them from day one. Treat the money you play as the cost of entertainment, never as a way to make money or recover a loss.
2. Types of limits you can set
lotoguebec offers three core limits. Deposit limits cap how much money you can add to your account over a daily, weekly or monthly period. Spending limits cap how much you can wager in the same windows. Time limits cap how long you can stay logged in to play during a session or a day. You can combine them freely, and each applies automatically once reached, blocking further deposits, wagers or play until the period resets.
3. How to set or change them
Setting a limit takes less than a minute. Sign in, open your account, choose the limit you want and confirm the amount or duration. Lowering a limit or adding a new one takes effect immediately, because a stricter limit is always in your favour. Raising or removing a limit is intentionally slower: a cooling-off delay applies before any increase becomes active, giving you time to be sure the change is right for you.
4. The cooling effect of waiting
The delay on limit increases is deliberate. Decisions made in the heat of the moment, especially while chasing a loss, are rarely the decisions we would make calmly. By requiring a waiting period before a higher limit takes effect, lotoguebec gives you space to reflect, talk to someone you trust, or simply change your mind. If you cancel the increase during the cooling-off period, your previous, lower limit stays in place.
5. Need more support?
Limits work best alongside the rest of our tools. If you want to step away for a while, see the Breaks page to take a time-out, or the Self-Exclusion page for longer periods away from play. If gambling is no longer fun, free, confidential and bilingual support is available across Quebec, 24 hours a day, through Jeu : aide et référence at 1-800-461-0140.
